“Music brings people together, its healing"
As Day Month Second hits the speakers you are transported into Milly Toomeys modern day riot girl alter ego, GIRLI. The Pop Punk vibes, caressing and driving strength into atmosphere.
Standing proud on the stage in her sown on donut boobs and pink muff leotard (see below), on the third night of her 'Damsel in Distress' tour, there is no doubt GIRLI is iconic, accompanied by only a laptop and fellow singer Faber the talent is phenomenal.
Hot Mess, the pop punk rebellion is an incredible insight into the misogyny experienced by women from in the music industry, to the street, how dare they be different! As GIRLI conducts the crowd like a feminist fuel orchestra, they scream 'hot mess!' as a big fuck you to the creeps and dirty dirty people of the world.
Soon to be release, Restless is the ultimate rebellion song, written by GIRLI it talks about how in 2019 she was let go by her label and is now an independent artist supported by an incredible freelance and indie crew.
To a badder bitch than Doja Cat (sorry not sorry) I can only apologise for reviewing GIRLI on a mere digital blog when you deserve a dedicated fan zine, but, I can tell you know, she's going to have to get used to it.
